Teen’s book ready for public eyes  Friday 06th Apr, 2012

Otumoetai College student Celine Murray is following in her mother’s footsteps and is having her first book being made available.

The Year 13 student has written a collection of 10 short stories, titled ‘Seven to Seventeen’.

Celine says she is pretty excited about the book being made available.

“I think I wrote my first proper story when I was seven.”

College publicity officer Erin Armstrong says Celine has always loved writing and her mum Lee is also an author.

The stories in the book are about Darwin coming to dinner, a group of reptiles form a self-help group, Cornelia and Octavia conspire to kill Cleopatra, a cat writes an agony column and a blonde-haired vampire throwing a potential accuser off his trail.

“Seven to Seventeen brings together 10 stories spanning a decade, a delightful insight into a young writer’s development,” says the Whakatane Friends of the Library who have read the book.

“What a clever young author, an original approach from a lively imagination.”

People are able to get a digital copy of the book from

UPDATE: In September 2012, Celine left for a one year AFS stay in Paris !
