How the French Revolution Collapsed into Terror
Podcast : How One Plunge of a Dagger Sent France Into Terror
This is the first of a 4-part series about the French Revolution from “The Rest is History” podcast, where we learn all about the editor of the Revolutionary newspaper L’Ami du Peuple, Jean-Paul Marat, who was famously stabbed to death in his bathtub by a revolutionary from an opposing faction, Charlotte Corday, unleashing the bloody period known as the Terror. Interesting factoid: the famous painting “Death of Marat” is by the painter David. He was a close friend of Marat and Robespierre, and voted for the death of Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette…and somehow survived to then become the official painter of Napoléon (his paintings include “The Coronation of Napoleon” and “Napoléon Crossing the Alpes”). I highly recommend this podcast for anyone who likes their history with a side of British humour (which you can enjoy with or without the video).

I found this recommendation in Secrets of Paris , an independent, ad-free website about Paris created by Heather Stimmler, a journalist living in France since 1995.
