Welcome to The Good Life France Autumn 2023 magazine.
I am delighted to share the Autumn issue of the magazine with you – chock full of fantastic features and fabulous photos, inspiring destination guides, scrumptious recipes, history, culture and much, much more.
This is a particularly delicious issue as we wind our way through the vineyards of Burgundy along the famed route of the Vallée de la Gastronomie, eat some of the best chocolate in the world in the town of Valrhona in southern France, and shine a light on Tournus, a hidden gem that’s a gastronomic destination extraordinaire. Plus we have some utterly irresistible recipes for you including a classic and totally mouth-watering French Onion soup that will knock your socks off!
We catch up with an Australian family who fell in love with the abandoned Chateau de Gudanes at the foot of the Pyrénées mountains near Toulouse after they saw it advertised for sale on the internet. After ten years of painstaking renovation – the chateau, created by one of the Palace of Versailles architects, is breath-taking, truly gorgeous.
Explore the swashbuckling seaside city of Saint-Malo in Brittany, and alpine Ariège, a land of tree-covered mountains overhung with chocolate-box-lid-pretty medieval villages. Visit the perfect place to spend autumn in France – the Rhone Valley in Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes, plus discover a shoe museum the like of which exists nowhere else in the world. Seriously – shoe heaven.
Find out why an Armada of tall ships regularly floats into the ancient city of Rouen. Discover the bucolic countryside and seaside charms of Pas-de-Calais (my part of France) in the far north. And pop to sunny Bordeaux, historic Picardy, and lovely Languedoc-Roussillon.
Discover the historic bell-makers of Normandy, traditional mat-making in Provence, ogle a unique exhibition of French haute-couturier Yves Saint Laurent’s most incredible designs, plus find out how French chef Escoffier changed the course of culinary history in France. And more…
I hope I’ve tempted you to flip the pages and that you’ll find this issue an entertaining, informational, and inspiring read.
This magazine is totally free to read, and subscribe to, just hop on to page 4 and sign up! And please do share this issue with your friends – that’s free too.
I wish you a very happy autumn,
